The life of your Board - What do they do?

We’ve been your board for about two weeks nog, and are getting more and more used to board life. About time for a sneak peek into our life as your board!

As President, Adrian is responsible for keeping tabs on the board and the association. He is the chairman for all board meetings, and makes sure they are held efficiently. This has been going pretty well, so far! Adrian also does the pub talks, in which he tells you what has been happening within the association, and what is to come the following week. If the Pub Board has any questions for us, or we have any questions for them, Adrian talks with Danique weekly to discuss anything concerning the Pub, so our collaboration goes as smoothly as possible.

Jules is our Secretary and External Affairs. He has the arduous task of processing the minutes for the board meetings and general members meetings. It’s hard work, but no problem for Jules. He also takes care of the board email, on which many emails are received and answered. As your External Affairs Jules is concerned with all AEGEE’s external relations. Right now he is working on our deal with Domino’s, to make sure you get your pizza discount back!

Treasurer and European Affairs are Timo’s roles. As your Treasurer he manages the association’s money, and where it goes. All committee budgets will go through him to the board, as well. As European Affairs Timo maintains the relations with the European network AEGEE has to offer. He is also our board delegate. Together with the rest of the delegates from AEGEE-Enschede he travels to the Agora’s, to talk about the direction AEGEE-Europe is heading in. This year Timo is the representative for the European School 1 committee, which has not been organized in years. Timo has been enthusiastically working on this project.

Last, but not least, we have Jesse. He is our Internal Affairs and Vice-President. All Internal Affairs go through Jesse. He keeps watch on how things are going between year clubs, fraternities, sororities, fellowships, residences and everything else. As your Vice-President he will represent the association when Adrian can’t be there, and he supports Adrian where needed. It could just be that your next pub talk is held by Jesse!

One of the many general tasks your board is responsible for is visiting constitution drinks. The free beer is a very nice bonus to being a board member. Also, since we are part of a larger network in the Netherlands, the so-called “Nedertop”, we get to travel through the country to congratulate our fellow AEGEE board members. As long as the National Railways doesn’t mess up this is a great time!

The coming year we will be experiencing a lot, we’re excited for whatever board-membership will bring us. Be sure to drop by at the office to further get to know your board, we’ll try not to bite too hard!\

See you soon!
